Today I had the privilege of interviewing Rav Ronen Neuwirth about his fascinating new book ‘The Narrow Halakhic Bridge: A vision of Jewish Law in the Post-Modern Age’ (which also exists in hebrew as גשר ההלכה: פסיקת הלכה בדור פוסטמודרני). In ‘The Narrow Halakhic Bridge’, Rav Ronen provides an easy-to-read yet nuanced presentation about the halakhic process, along with a compelling argument about how halachic leadership must shift in our post-modern world from being defensive to visionary. But as Rav Ronen explained in our interview, this book is not just for Rabbis. Instead, it is for anyone with an interest in the current and future development of halacha, because halachic development emerges from the dialogue between halachic leaders and their communities who deserve relevant and effective halachic guidance. Having read ‘The Narrow Halakhic Bridge’ I can attest to the fact that it is a really wonderful book that is jam-packed with fascinating sources and refreshing insights about a range of topics that Jewish communities are facing today, and it is a book that I would highly recommend.
